What I'm Loving...right now

I am, in the words of Lorraine Stanick, a creature of habit. So, here's what I'm using and loving at the moment.

As for foundation, I'm loving NARS Sheer Matte.

It gives just the right coverage and such a lovely matte finish. What I like mostly about this foundation is that the "matteness" isn't too matte. I've been applying this either with my fingers or a MAC 109 brush and setting it with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural.
My concealer is the same. MAC MoistureCover underneath the eyes and around the nose and MAC StudioFix to cover and spots or redness.

For my blusher and highlight, MORE NARS! I'm so in love with NARS' blush "Deep Throat" it's stupid. This is the perfect blush for me. In love!

For my highlight, I'm using the NARS Multiple in "Copacabana". This gives the most beautiful, luminescent glow to the face. I love, love, love it! I also love how versatile and easy to use this product is. NARS really hit a home-run with this one!

I've also really been digging Urban Decay's "Shakedown" eyeshadow. This is my first UD eyeshadow and I absolutely adore the consistency. It is such a smooth shadow! Beautiful, soft taupe that is SUPER easy to blend.

So, that is what I'm really loving right now. Hope you enjoyed and I will be posting more soon.

Check out oldsoulartistry.blogspot.com for my side project with the wonderful Ryne Haynie!

Love, love, love!
Long time, no post!

Sorry for the lack of posts, I've been mind-bogglingly busy as of late. Work is taking over my life! But, I also have another development that has been consuming most of my time. A good friend of mine, who happens to be a fantastic photographer, have teamed up to form an all-encompassing photography duo. With Ryne behind the camera and a makeup brush in my hand, we work under the moniker of "Old Soul Artistry". We've only had one shoot so far, but we've got the WHOLE month of May scheduled for shoots! So we'll be busy, busy little bees.
The first shoot that spawned this team was with a mutual friend of ours named Kelli. We were so fortunate to work with her as 1. she's all ready done some modeling before and 2. she's absolutely GORGEOUS! I'll post some of the pictures below.

Other than that, I've been doing a lot of makeup purchasing lately. Shame, shame...I know. But I've gotten some really good products! I'll do a "what I'm loving" post soon, scouts honor!

So, as promised, here are some of the shots from the Old Soul shoot. Enjoy!

Thanks for viewing!
Have a beautiful day!

MAC Prep+Prime

Well ladies and gents, finally I got my primer!
I've been in desperate need of a primer for a while now, and I finally got one!
Yesterday the boyfriend and I went to our local MAC counter and he bought me MAC's Prep+Prime Skin Base.

I used this product this morning before I applied my foundation. It has a pleasant scent and a lovely yet subtle sheen. I prefer my skin to be more on the matte side and this product has just enough sheen to it to glow but still be overall matte. I'm not sure if this is due to the exfoliating I did this morning or the primer or both but my skin felt very soft after applying the primer.
I will update in a few hours to see how I feel once I've worn it for the large majority of the day.

So far so good with the primer. It seems to be holding up very well. I've had it on for a little over five hours now and my skin is much less oily than it usually is around this time. It looks like I just put on foundation. I'm in love!!!

Ok, I'm sold...usually by this time of the day my foundation is a HOT MESS, but since using the MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base...it is still flawless after 8 hours!!! This is the holy grail!

OPI Polish

So I went to Ulta today and picked up a couple new nail polishes. They had a lovely buy two get two sale going on for some select colors so a friend of mine went in and got two polishes a piece for the price of one. Sweet deal!!!
I got two OPI polishes in "Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees" and "Give Me Moor!"

"Give Me Moor!" (front) and "Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees" (back)

"Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees" (front) and "Give Me Moor!" (back)

This is what "Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees" looks like on.

Whenever my "Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees" starts looking dingy I'll show you what "Give Me Moor!" look like.
The polish was quite nice (of course it's OPI) The first coat went on pretty streaky but the second coat was like butter! I only used two coats and no top coat.
I'll try and do more posts, promise!

Peace, Love, & Beauty,
Sarah

Dystopian Inspiration

Well hello again.

So here is my obligatory 2:00 am post. Not much to say, but anyway.

I have to say, I've been pretty disappointed with some of my favorite makeup brands recent collections. I'm not positive on what MAC has up their sleeves but from what I've heard it's black, black and MORE BLACK! I love it!

But what has really got me thrilled right now is Illamasqua's new collection called "Dystopia".
It is truly an inspirational collection!
Dystopia's creator, Alex Box, found her inspiration for the collection from a silent film from 1927, called "Metropolis". I haven't finished the film yet but it (from what I understand) is basically about this futuristic society that has strived to create such a utopia that they have essentially become the opposite...dystopia.
The collection is comprised of some vivid, futuristic pinks and purples with plently of heavy, monochromatic blacks and greys. They also have a product which is a Liquid Metal called 'Phenomena' which would put the chicest spacesuit to shame.

Here a couple pictures from Dystopia

I'd been feeling kind of stuck in my makeup recently. I feel that there is so much that can be done sometimes I just get overwhelmed with all the possibilities. But it's artistry like this that really inspires me to test the boundaries and just HAVE FUN!

I hope you all have a lovely labor day!

Peace, love, and beauty,
Sarah

Laura

Today, I got a chance to play around with a great friend of mine, Laura. We started off with a very simple, soft and smokey look. We played up her eye color with cream, brown, and purple tones. We paired that with a soft pink lipgloss.

Next, I asked the lady what her favorite color was...and she said blue. So, we played with that.

Finally, I decided to get crazy and do a Rasta inspired look using; green, red, and yellow on the eyes paired with a great red lip.

Hope you enjoyed!
